Brief description of site: A small recessed shelter inset at the base of a boulder. At edge of same rocky gully as MAL-MLU3. Pleasant shaded seating and shelter but too small for habitation. Fine views to west. Moderately easy access. Brief description of art: Pictographs have suffered from fires lit in shelter. Motifs that survive include 2 sets of parallel vertical lines, a set of parallel horizontal lines and a few dots. All applied by finger in red.
Brief description of site: A protected low surface on a boulder near the top of Mlunduni mountain. Merely a protected surface, no shade or shelter. Magnificent view over most of hills within District. Extremely arduous access. Brief description of art: Open to some washing by rain, all that remain are traces of lines and dots applied by finger in red.
Brief description of site: A large squat boulder near the base of Mlunduni mountain west side. Overhang provides protection on south and west sides. Stream flows under western end of boulder. Could have been used as habitation but rather narrow and sloping floor. View into wet area below and over plain to west. Easily accessible. Brief description of art: Various pairs of vertical lines, a circle within a circle, various curving and joined lines and a few thick filled oblong shapes. All applied by finger in red. Also a set of parallel lines, a curving line and an area of dots all finely applied by brush.
Brief description of site: A boulder half way up eastern side of Mlunduni mountain. Good overhang on north side provides pleasant sheltered floor area. Oddly, although the back of this is the surface best suited for painting on, this was not used. 2 painted surfaces faces west and are protected only by a small lip. Fine views to the west. Brief description of site: The site is on a very good surface. The overhang provides little protection. The site is in an area where there are not many caves and it could have been useful as a shelter from rain and sun. There is no outlook maybe 100m. The site is a very large and important site. Brief description of art: The images are very tall and ladders must have been used. The images are in a good condition. The art consists of two circles joined like an umbilical cord as well as some highly complex figures.
Brief description of site: The site is on a large boulder at ground level that looks out towards the village plains. Brief description of art: The images are difficult to decipher but there are red monochrome and red and white biochrome image fragments across the panel that suggest there were many paintings in the shelter.
Brief description of site: The site is on a large boulder approximately 16m wide, 8m deep and 8m high. The boulder rests against a large flat granite rock. The shelter looks out to an open area and is enclosed at one side by a large granite hill, and on the other side it opens out to the village. The shelter is nicely shaded and well concealed by thorny bushy ledge al around site. Brief description of art: The red images to the left of the shelter can be seen as one approaches the shelter. White paintings are recognized when one is in the shelter. The images are probably finger painted and are in red monochrome, and red and white bichrome. It is highly probable that the images were all in bichrome, but most of the painted surface has faded or flaked leaving a few traces of colour. From left to right, there is a spectacular red group of motifs consisting of three concentric circles with a line running from them. Next to these images there are four diagonal line shapes with short slightly horizontal lines in between two pairs of lines. Above these lines and circles there are dashes of vertical lines. Further right is half a concentric circle in red, partly lost in the wash. Further right, there are whitish pink lines in the center of the panel, and extreme right there are rectangular shapes in red and white lines that appear to merge with concentric red and white circles below them.
