Brief description of site: Well protected cut within side of boulder lying 2m south ZAM-MWA22. Placement similar in all respects. Brief description of art: Finger Dots. Two short horizontal rows of faint red dots applied by finger. Also a few very clear splodges in red.
Brief description of site: Three metres north of ZAM-MWA28, lower on the same boulder. Pictographs therefore more accessible but less easy to see from any distance. Painted surface is almost unprotected. Brief description of art: Two small but complex geometric motifs applied by finger in red.
Brief description of site: A large boulder positioned on the edge of the high part of east Mwankole a few metres north of MK24. Excellent view for perhaps 15km to the north, though painted surface faces into other rocks. Provides pleasant shaded seating but no particular shelter. Only accessible through maze of rocks that make up central section of the rock area, hard to find. Brief description of art: Faint remnants of what appears to be the outline of an animal executed by brush. Also two vertical lines, joined midway by an horizontal line executed in red by finger.
Brief description of site: A low protected surface overhung by adequate lip in a low boulder. In the central part of hill surrounded by other boulders, hidden and hard to find. No view, not easily visible as rock placed directly in front of painted surface. Brief description of art: Many rows of dots applied by finger. Rows almost vertical but slant slightly to the left. All in similar hand and pigment.
Brief description of site: Protected recessed surface, quite high up in the side of a boulder. Boulder slants outwards towards the base and pictographs executed from this slanting area. Boulder sits in narrow passage near the centre of the hill. It is very difficult to find, can only be seen by someone walking in one direction along the passage. No shelter or view, merely chosen as a suitable surface. Brief description of art: Two filled animal depictions of simple semi-naturalistic style. One is probably a rhino due to horn at front, the species of the other is uncertain. Accompanied by massed dots applied by finger. Dots overlay rhino.
Brief description of site: Recessed cavity within large boulder. Cavity accessible by gentle climb up sloping rock-face. Boulder sits among other boulder in the centre of rock area. Due to its size it is quite visible and would be seen by anyone passing in this area. No view. Shaded seat for one but no shelter. Brief description of art: A central animal depiction of uncertain species: simple, filled semi-naturalistic in style. Animal overlain by single vertical line. Other vertical lines around this, together with curious linear design composed of four vertical lines the inner two of which bend inwards and the outer two outwards. This is intersected at its centre by an horizontal line. Also some horizontal rows of dots. All except animal applied by finger in red.
Brief description of site: 8m north of ZAM-MWA29 under a large overhang nearly 5m up the rock-face. Pictographs executed from a wide ledge. Ledge only accessible by standing on another persons shoulder or climbing a tree. Height of pictographs makes them visible to anyone passing this central part of the rock area. No view, well shaded. Brief description of art: Graffiti. Two main animal depictions, both have large bodies with small stick-like legs, species uncertain. Both filled. In the larger, several other body outlines are visible underneath the present outline, suggesting that the animal has been repainted three or perhaps four times. Front section of animals cut off by exfoliated section of rock. Above are a few horizontal rows of dots applied by finger. All figures in red.
Brief description of site: On opposite face of same rock as ZAM-MWA38. A narrow protected section of rock-face looking outwards from edge of hill into trees. Shaded seating but no shelter. Easily accessible. Brief description of art: A faint circle with externally radiating lines surrounded by an arc of darker red dots. Other rows of red dots run away in a downwards direction. Many dots too high to reach.
Brief description of site: A small low surface at the entrance to a passage running under a large boulder. Surface faces into other rocks in centre of hill, boulder sits at edge of hill. Pleasant shaded seating in entrance to passage, roof of passage too low to allow use as habitation. Easily accessible. Brief description of art: Two parallel horizontal lines, connected by about 17 short vertical bars. All applied by finger in red.
Brief description of site: A pale coloured surface well protected by a high overhang. Provides pleasant shaded seating but limited shelter. Facing into other rocks and boulders. Easily accessible. Brief description of art: Finger Dots. An arc of dots applied in red by finger, some slightly dragged, all well preserved. Also various rows of well preserved small red dots, in sets of three, applied by brush. Also a few rather faint rows of dots applied by finger in pale red. On lower surface are: parallel vertical lines, a single vertical line, two arrow-like motifs all applied by finger. Also a set of small concentric circles attached to an horizontally stretched circle with a single internal horizontal division applied by brush.
