        Conservation action taken: CONSERVATION
The paintings have deteriorated markedly since the late 1960s, probably because of being visited frequently during and after the construction of the nearby dam wall and its access road in the early 1980s. It is near an older track which skirts the ridge of which the rock outcrop is a part, and returns to the Siphocosini valley, so it may have been visited well before the Luphohlo Dam was completed. Contributory factors to the deterioration are the past use of the overhang as a herders' shelter, and its relative lack of protection from the elements, which has promoted exfoliation.
