The paintings are faded and exfoliated, but have been traced by members of the Rock Art Research Institute of Witwatersrand University. This has provided a valuable record, because the rock face on which they were painted has been removed, not entirely successfully, to the National Museum, Lobamba. It has been placed under the eves of the building, but is still exposed to the weather.
