Conservation action taken: Conservation
Swallows are nesting in the shelter. They are not currently directly impacting the paintings, but they may become a problem in the future. There is some water wash across the painted panel.
Recommendations
Little can be done about either the swallows or the water wash. To prevent future conservation problems, general precautions should be implemented:
Strangers should only visit the site with the permission of, and accompanied by, the farm owners.
Large groups of people should not be taken to the site; they will create excessive dust that will settle on and obscure the paintings.
Livestock should not be allowed into the shelter.
Under no circumstances should paintings be wet.
Visitors to the shelter should avoid touching the rock, particularly the fragile sections.
There is little that can be done about the birds and the fragile nature of the rock.
Conservation needed: yes
