Biografie
Brief description of site: This site is an E facing and spatially interesting granite rock shelter. The site is approached from the south on the 600 m contour less than 250 m from the two engraving sites at the entrance to the Numas Ravine. The site has a large arch and inner cave section. The floor is stepped and sloping and the site consists of several huge granite blocs heaped together. Good views into the ravine.
Brief description of art: The site has perhaps 80 rock paintings; most of which are very faded. The paintings are located on both sides of the arch and against the deep inner back wall of the rock shelter. There is a frieze of red human figures; a human figure running in a very animated legs splayed posture. There are also at least 5 red springbok. Tall human figures are located on the deepest part of the back wall. There are many patches of paint, now too faint and weathered to decipher. The white paint that would have been used fore the faces, legs and detail sections of the human and animal figures has faded away completely, as its grain size is much larger than that of the red paint. The red paint thus penetrates between the quartzite grains of the granite rock wall while the large white paint particles stick to the surface of the granite, from which they are washed and worn off over time.
