Conservation action taken: Conservation
Most of the paintings in the site are in a fairly poor condition. On the right of the shelter there is a yellow, ochre-like substance seeping out of the roof and is washing over the paintings. There is also some water that washes over the panel in the central part of the shelter. There are some swallows' nests on the ceiling, but they are not currently threatening the paintings. Sheep have been in the shelter and have been rubbing against the panel and consequently destroying the lower parts of the panel. Dust is also a major problem in the site as it is slowly covering the paintings. Some plants growing against the back wall of the shelter may brush paintings.
Recommendations
To prevent future conservation problems, it is recommended that the following measures be put in place.
The protective bush should be left in place.
It may be necessary to trim vegetation brushing against painted surfaces
Livestock should be prevented from entering the shelter. The erection of any physical infrastructure, such as a fence, may require a permit from the relevant heritage agency.
Strangers should only visit the site with the permission of, and accompanied by the farm owners.
Large groups of people should not be taken to the site; they will create excessive dust that will settle on and obscure the paintings.
Little can be done to prevent water flow over and through the rock.
Conservation needed: yes
Monitoring plan established: no

How to find the site: Drive out of Molteno (town) on Dendrecht road. Drive for about 5km and then turn right towards Sterkstroom. Drive for about 5km again and then turn right at the Kings Glen Farm sign. Drive for about 10km along a dirt road that leads you to the farmhouse. The site in on the hill behind the farmhouse. Walk up the main drainage line on the hill to the large Krans line half way up the hill. The site is on the Krans line, in line with the top of the drainage. Bushes and trees concede most of the shelter.
