Brief description of site: RSA-RSS1 consists of a small, deep and spatially convoluted cave-like space in which bats live on the eastern side of a small tributary. The site faces west-north-west and is part of a chain of shelters, though only the multi-circular cave has paintings. This site has many circular depressions and dark inner spaces - up to 6 m deep, 9 m wide, 3 m high with small stream flowing right through it. The site is thus damp with flood debris and wet-adapted plants.
The inundation of the deposit makes it difficult to tell depth of deposit. There are a few dry, dusty pockets and stone walling in a nearby shelter.
Brief description of art: Large antelope-headed snakes.
The 20 + images are concentrated in the large circular inner part of this cave-like shelter. The imagery consists mostly of elans in red, white & black and orange, white & black. Two eland are painted completely in white - maybe signifying old bull eland. One eland in polychrome in shown lying down and there are at least 5 similar such eland but shown standing up. On the site's lower tier, centimetres above the flowing stream is a very long-eared, ass-like monster in white with a red outline and with at least 3 red human figures in attendance. There are two white bending forward human figures; 1 looks over its shoulder. There are also 7 red, white and black eland - 1 on the ceiling. 3 red and black human figures and at least 4 eland placed within circular hollows in the site's wall.
